3/13/2023 0 Comments Ryobi cordless drillManufacturers realised this problem, and now have made brushless motors, and as there are no carbon brushes, the motor will last longer and not need to have those replaced. This is not difficult to do, but most home owners find it difficult to find replacement brushes, and simply don't have the know how to be able to change them. They are effective, however over time, these brushes start to arc, and that causes them to get damaged, and with extended use, will eventually need to be replaced. These brushes act as electrical conductors to make the motor work. A key component of a motor are two small brushes made of carbon. We will not bore you to death with the full technical reasons, but have included a simple explanation just below.Īll drills have a motor inside, and in the case of cordless drill, that motor is powered by the battery. Ryobi have also started to make that change. That includes brands like Dewalt and Makita. They use primarily lithium-Ion batteries which is of course the only way to go in our opinion.Īll the leading tool manufacturers have changed from normal motors over to brushless motors. Often this ONE+ range is referred to as a "Bare Tool." That means it is supplied without a battery. They also then do a range of other cordless drills that are separate from this range. The basics behind this is that you buy a battery and charger and this can then be used with a range of power tools.Īs well as a cordless drill, you can also get other cordless tools such as, an angle grinder, circular saw, percussion drill, palm sander, flashlight, multi-tool, planer, blower, nail gun, hammer drill, mitre saw, grass trimmer, inflator, hand vacuum cleaner, radio, reciprocating saw, caulking gun, jigsaw, impact wrench and a sprayer. To avoid any confusion I want to mention their ONE+ brand as this is marketed a lot. It is pretty easy to spot any tool made by this particular brand, and they have a nice range of price options as well. They have a very distinctive yellow/gold colour scheme or a newer Hyper Green on their brand. They range between £40-160 and you will have to go to the higher end of that for their best choices. Now the brand claims these are all affordable drill/drivers and when we checked that out, they are similar to many other brands. They specialise in a ONE+ range, which is a whole range of tools that are compatible using one single battery. Like many of the other brands that we include on our website, Ryobi do the full range of both home and garden tools. They are aiming their cordless tools at the home owner, the hobbyist, those who like their crafts and woodworkers. The Ryobi brand market themselves as making professional featured power tools that are truly affordable.
